BIO
Originally from Long Island, I graduated from Elmira College in 1978. I initially learned mosaics from a book and discovered quickly that this was my passion. After reading an article about covering a styrofoam ball with beach glass my mosaic life changed forever. I discovered the third dimension and soon learned that nothing was off limits, almost everything you find can either be
substrate or tesserae (surface or tile).
Next I discovered an online group of devoted group of mosaic artists and made friends all over the world who exposed me to a new wealth of materials, techniques and knowledge to help me transition from crafter to professional artist. My 7 year membership in the Society of American Mosaic Artists has enabled me to meet
these artists, many of whom are the most renowned artists and professionals in our field.
I enjoy tiling musical instruments and have started incorporating more natural stone and found objects into my work. Most recently I have been focused on functional art including mirrors and yard art. My work has been exhibited at the The CAP ArtSpace, State of the Art Gallery, The NYS Biennial Exhibit at the Arnot
Art Museum, The Grass Roots Festival Art Barn in Trumansburg and the Avenue Art Gallery in Endicott. I am a 2011 participant in the New York State Foundation of the Arts MARK Program and the Business of Art workshop series facilitated by the Arts of the Southern Finger Lakes.
