I am an expressive realistic painter. My oil paintings focus on the sculptural surface of the earth, the texture of those surfaces, and tonal and color relationships. Observation and my personal interpretation of atmosphere, color, texture, and tonality influence my paintings. I give credit to Nature for composing beautiful landscapes. It is the part of the landscape that I choose to paint that speaks to my sensibilities. When I experience a powerful section of a landscape, I try to capture the spirit of the place in a way that invites the viewer in and asks that they stay a while as a retreat from their present circumstances.

ADDRESS 104 Juniper Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850
STUDIO DIRECTIONS
Take Route 96B south out of Ithaca. Turn left on Coddington Road at Rogan’s Corners. Follow Coddington Road south past the back entrance to Ithaca College. Go about 1/4 mile past the entrance and turn left on Juniper Drive. I am the second house on the left.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
I am trained as an Art Educator with degrees from Kutztown University and Elmira College. I’ve had a twenty-three year career as an art teacher with ICSD. In the early 90’s I developed an intense interest in oil painting. This interest took me to La Rochelle, France; Dingle, Ireland; Taos; New Mexico; Georgian Bay, Canada; Schoodic, Maine; and Colorado to experience many contemporary teachers. Although I love painting in these remote places and experiencing the vast differences in atmosphere, light, topography; it is the natural forces that formed the gorges, lakes, and hillsides in the Ithaca area that continue to excite me. My paintings are part of many private collections: Colaiste Ida, Dingle Bay, Ireland; La Rochelle, France; Bessie Moser, Pennsylvania and more.
