I have formal art school training, yet I was not interested in ceramics until much later in life. In my most recent ceramic work, I am mostly interested in form over function, combining coil or slab built forms with contemporary, yet minimal surface decoration. I use unconventional materials such as paint and wax in order to create the desired matte surface, treating the bisque fired clay as a canvas.

I’m also a photographer, and in this type of work I often focus on abstracted forms. I am drawn to blocks of color and repeated shapes. I seek to find the relationship between each image and enjoy the resulting conversation between them.
