After growing up on Long Island, I got my BFA at C.W. Post and then spent a little over twenty years in NYC. But I fell in love with and moved to Ithaca in 2001.
As with most artists, my sculpture has gone through many changes over the years. In the late 80’s and early 90’s I created several large scale, site specific installations. But more recent years find me working on a more intimate scale.
Some years ago, I began using cross stitch in many of my wall hung works. Over the last decade, I produced a series exploring and celebrating marriage equality.
Most recently my works have included images and anecdotes from my youth. Though my art has taken many twists and turns, several things have remained consistent: a commitment to using recycled materials; a love of wood; a dedication to finely crafted finished work.
After relocating to Ithaca, I joined State of the Art, a cooperatively run fine art gallery, in 2004. In addition to exhibits there, I have had solo shows in Manhattan, Staten Island, Corning and at the Earlville Opera House. I have also exhibited in group shows around the country. This year marks my third at the new downtown Ithaca location.
I look forward to seeing you during the open studio weekends or by appointment.
